Google Health

PeopleSearchDigest.com - FreebaseThere is a reason Google is a household name. It’s reliable and is becoming increasingly superior at giving us the search results we want when we want them. And, with specific searches like images, maps, news, finance, video, etc, users are able to narrow their search to bring up more relevant search results. Well, get ready to narrow your search further. Google is adding “Google Health” as its entry into the online health records space.

As of right now, the site isn’t allowing search on it yet, but when it does go up, users will be able to build online health profiles, and even conveniently download medical records from doctors and pharmacies. Users will even be able to get personalized health guidance and relevant news – including help finding qualified doctors and services.

Interestingly Google has chosen to let Health go straight to beta (as opposed to having it go through Google Labs). The reason may be that they feel pressed for time to get it out and active. There were rumors of its launch all the way back in
May 2006, but it never came to fruition, causing Microsoft to beat them to the punch. However, like anything with the Google name, we don’t think they have anything to worry about.
